Orange touch for a warmer home, by Cass Bailey

When we moved into our house two years ago, everywhere was decorated in plain magnolia.  At first I loved it because it felt very clean and minimal but unfortunately with two young children nothing stays clean for long and now, two years later I’m ready for some colour.

I’m not ready to go too wild though at the minute though, and I’m planning to keep the walls quite neutral and introduce some colours through accessorising.  I want something bright and uplifting – especially with Winter finally hitting us.

I’ve had a look around the internet and love some of the orange accessories I’ve found.  I’m going to do one room at a time and I’m going to start with the upstairs family bathroom as it is desperately needs some brightening up.  The walls and tiles are a warm cream colour so they can stay and I’ll add some splashes of colour with these fantastic accessories:

Gorgeous towel bale from Next

I love this bathroom set from Milanoo

I love this print for the wall – It’s called “To Dream About“, by Hans Paus, and it’ll go lovely in my new orange bathroom.  It relaxes me just looking at it.

And finally, for my lovely long relaxing soaks in the bath, I obviously need a matching orange candle – preferably of the Spiced Orange Yankee Candle variety.

I can’t wait till it’s done, and the beauty of it is that I won’t have to wait long at all – just a few clicks on my laptop and everything will be on it’s way. When it arrives, it’ll take less than 10 minutes to put it all together and finish my room makeover.

I hope I’ve shown you that a few tasteful accessories can really brighten up a plain room, without looking too over the top, and that you really don’t have to spend a fortune.
I chose to use orange because I think it’s a vibrant happy colour that reminds me of the Summer, and for this reason, it always seems to makes me feel warmer, even when it’s freezing outside.
